SUBJECT: Appropriate $10,000 charitable donation from Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) charitable giving program
Appropriate $10,000 from Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) charitable giving program to the Fire Department General Fund Operating budget to purchase thermal imaging cameras.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of the appropriation.
BACKGROUND:
The Bakersfield Fire Department (BFD) was awarded a $10,000 charitable donation from Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) to purchase thermal imaging cameras. This donation was made through PG&E’s charitable giving program funds, which is dedicated to supporting initiatives that foster safer and more resilient communities. The funds will be used to procure thermal imaging cameras to strengthen the Bakersfield Fire Department’s emergency response capabilities, enhancing fire safety and survival measures in the event of a firefighter mayday incident.
The Bakersfield Fire Department has accepted a charitable donation of $10,000 from PG&E’s Charitable Giving Program and recommends the approval to appropriate the funds to the Fire Department’s General Fund Operating budget towards the acquisition of thermal imaging cameras.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for equipment will be provided by donation , thus no City General Funds will be used for the purchase of the cameras.
