SUBJECT: Resolution authorizing the submittal of application and administration of Voucher Program through the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District (SJVAPCD).
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of the resolution.
BACKGROUND:
The City of Bakersfield’s Public Works Fleet Services Division makes an effort to purchase alternative fuel vehicles and equipment when considering units for replacement. Fleet staff researches an d pursues opportunities for grants and incentives to offset the cost of the vehicles.
SJVAPCD is currently offering voucher programs to public agencies and businesses. These programs provide funding to replace old gas -powered vehicles and equipment with n ew electric options. Small businesses and public agency applicants may be eligible for up to 100% of the cost of new vehicles and equipment. Staff have identified several vehicles and equipment which meet the eligibility criteria for grant funding.
SJVAPCD requires a resolution from the City Council authorizing an individual to submit and administer the grant application and accept funding. This resolution will satisfy the requirement.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no impact to the City General Fund as the grant requires no matching funds from the City.
