BACKGROUND:

The work to be performed for this project consists of installation of conduit, fiberoptic cable, modems, networking equipment, monitoring cameras , o ther fiber optic equipment, and surge suppression equipment along Mt. Vernon Avenue between Bernard Street and Panorama Drive.

Change Order No. 2 provides for repairs to existing conduits that were determined to be unusable. To prevent further delays to the project the Project Engineer elected to install wireless communication units instead of submitting an Encroachment Permit application to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and then excavating to make the necessary repairs to the conduits. The contractor agrees to furnish and install two wireless devices and make necessary connections for a lump sum price of $6,295.36.

This Change Order also provides for additional fiber splicing required to allow the adaptive interconnect system to communicate with the Traffic Control Center. The contractor agrees to do the above-mentioned work for a lump sum price of $648.09.

Additionally, in order to construct the project per the plans and specifications, there were several contract item quantities that had to be either increased or decreased. These item adjustments will result in a net increase of $15,599.40.
