SUBJECT: Purchase of a portable generator for the Water Department (unbudgeted).
Appropriate $8,801 to the Public Works Department’s Operating Budget within the Equipment Management Fund to complete the purchase.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommend approval of the appropriation.
BACKGROUND:
This unbudgeted purchase of a portable generator for the Water Department will replace a unit that has major damage and is in need of costly repairs. Due to the needed repairs and equipment exceeding its life expectancy, it is not economically feasible to proceed with repairs. The unit will be replaced with a newer and more efficient unit. Staff have received previous approval of this unbudgeted purchase.
Staff recommend full appropriation in the amount of $8,801 to fund the cost of an unbudgeted portable generator for the Water Department. The amount of $2,976 recovered through rental rates and will be applied towards the purchase of the new unit.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This unforeseen purchase is unbudgeted and will require full appropriation of $8,801 to the Public Works Department’s Operating Budget within the Equipment Management Fund.
