Kern Mosquito and Vector
The primary objective of the Kern Mosquito Abatement District is the elimination of mosquito-breeding areas by way of educational services, various control measures and abatement procedure methods when necessary. This member is nominated and appointed by the Council of each respective participating City.

Health & Safety Code Section 2240, et seq.
TERM
Two (2) year staggered term. Appointments are made in December.
QUALIFICATIONS
Eight (8) Trustees: four (4) appointed by the Kern County Board of Supervisors, one each by City Councils of Bakersfield, Arvin, Shafter, and Wasco. Each member appointed by governing board of the city shall be an elector of the city and a resident of that portion of the city which is within the Kern Mosquito Abatement District.
DUTIES
The primary objective shall be the progressive elimination of mosquito-breeding places, the objective to be accomplished by an educational service on control measures, performing services of temporary relief control, establishing projects of source reduction, using abatement procedure methods when necessary, and by general policy of cooperation.
MEETINGS
District Office, 4705 Allen Road, on the second Wednesday of each month, at 11:30 a.m.
REMUNERATION
$100.00 per month for travel and expenses.

Re: Recommendation for Reappointment of Mr. Florn Core to the Kern Mosquito and Vector Control District Board of Trustees.
City Council Members:
I am writing on behalf of the Kern Mosquito and Vector Control District (District) to respectfully recommend the reappointment of Florn Core to the District’s Board of Trustees. Mr. Core’s current term is set to expire on December 31, 2025, and we believe his continued service would greatly benefit the District and the community it serves.
During his tenure, Mr. Core has been a consistently active and engaged member of the Board and has held key leadership roles, including Board Secretary, Vice President, and Board President. He has demonstrated consistent commitment through regular attendance at regular Board, standing, and ad hoc committee meetings, and has played an important role in discussions on matters critical to the District’s mission of protecting public health through effective mosquito and vector control.
Continuity on the Board is essential for the District’s ongoing success. Mr. Core’s extensive knowledge of the native and non -native mosquito species, vector-borne diseases, and the District’s operations makes him an invaluable asset. His commitment and experience significantly enhance the District’s ability to fulfill its mission effectively.
For these reasons, I strongly recommend the reappointment of Mr. Florn Core to the Kern Mosquito and Vector Control District Board of Trustees.
