SUBJECT: Accept bid and approve contract with Derrick D Enterprise, Inc. ($600,000). for the construction of HUD funded curb, gutter, and sidewalk for the Alta Vista area. (Ward 2)
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommend acceptance of the bid and approval of contract.
BACKGROUND:
Bids were solicited for the construction of curb, gutter, and sidewalk improvements in one area of the city receiving HUD funding. This contract will provide for curb, gutter, and sidewalk construction in the Alta Vista area. The area being improved by this project is generally bound by Kentucky Street and Benard Street. Three bids were received in response to the solicitation.
The bid submitted is based on an estimated quantity of work multiplied by the contractor’s unit price.
Funds in the amount of $600,000 are allocated in the 2025 -2026 Community Development Block Grant Entitlement for this contract. The bid calculations ba sed on those unit prices are less than the budget figure, however, the city enters the contract for the budgeted funds available.

Staff find the bid submitted by Derrick D Enterprise, Inc., in Bakersfield, CA, to be acceptable and recommend approval of contract for $600,000.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The approval of this contract will result in expending Federal Funding provided to the City by HUD, therefore no City General Funds will be expended as associated with the approval of this contract.
