SUBJECT: Appropriate $426,380 from the 2025 Kern County Fair and Appropriate $124,237 from Kern County Street Interdiction Team (SIT)
1. Appropriate $426,380 within the General Fund Police Operating Budget for reimbursement received for security services provided during the 2025 Kern County Fair.
2. Appropriate $124,237 within the General Fund Police Operating Budget for reimbursement received for Street Interdiction Team (SIT) operational services during the 2025 Kern County Fair.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of the appropriations.
BACKGROUND: From September 12-28, 2025, the Bakersfield Police Department (BPD) deployed sworn and civilian personnel to provide security services for the 2025 Kern County Fair and to support Street Interdiction Team (SIT) operations coordinated with Kern County Probation.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Police Department’s operating budget has already incurred these costs by paying personnel, equipment costs and travel -related expenses. Reimbursement in the amount of $426,380 for security services and $124,237 for SIT operation services during the Kern County Fair were received, and appropriation is requested to apply the reimbursement to the Police Operating Budget
