My background includes extensive leadership and organizing experience within the labor movement. I have served as a Shop Steward and Young Workers Committee Chair for UWUA Local 132, where I advocated for members, guided younger workers, and helped strengthen workplace communication and safety. I also served as an Organizing Steward for IBEW Local 1245, supporting membership engagement, community outreach, and strategic organizing campaigns. Beyond my union responsibilities, I’ve been actively involved in local elections knocking on doors, making calls, and helping mobilize voters to support candidates who put working families first. In addition, I’ve participated in various volunteer efforts throughout the community, giving my time to civic events, charity drives, and public service activities that improve the quality of life for residents. These experiences have equipped me with strong leadership, communication, and advocacy skills that I would bring to any board or commission role.
Previous and present governmental and civic experience. Indicate when, position and duties n/a
Please explain why you wish to serve on a Board/Commission for the City of Bakersfield I wish to serve on a Board or Commission for the City of Bakersfield because my experience in the labor movement has shown me the power of collaborative leadership and the importance of advocating for working families. Through my involvement in the union sector and my service on the executive board of the Kern, Inyo, Mono Central Labor Council, I’ve learned how to listen to diverse perspectives, build consensus, and advance policies that strengthen our community. I want to bring that same commitment to fairness, accountability, and public service to the City of Bakersfield. Serving on a board or commission gives me the opportunity to use my experience to help guide decisions that support residents, uplift local workers, and create a stronger, more equitable city for everyone.
