Wastewater Treatment Plant No. 3 Blower Replacement (E3K305) – Request for Amendment No. 1
Dear Ali:
The City of Bakersfield requested that our scope of work for the subject project be expanded to include replacing pressure relief valves, sediment traps, flame arrestors, and back-pressure relief valves for Digesters 3 through 6. We have prepared initial drawings and reviewed them with Brian Villacorta and Jim Groman who represent Varec Biogas. Following that review, our design scope was adjusted to also include a manhole pressure relief cover which is a new code requirement for digesters. The total price of the construction contract with this change should be in the range of $550,000 to $750,000. Our proposed fee increase is to provide design, bid-phase and engineering services for construction is summarized below and included in the attached staffing plan.

Design: Design services consist of two site visits, research of codes and coordination with vendors, selection of equipment and preparation of design with structural checks, prepare two drawings (one plan and one for sections and details, an additional specification section, addition to the engineering opinion of probable construction cost.

Bidding Phase: Added services only include one more RFI. Other items are covered by our original contract.

Construction Phase: Engineering services during construction will consist of answering one additional RFI and two additional submittals. Other engineering services offered during construction are covered by our original contract.
