RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommend approval of the Agreement.
BACKGROUND:
The City of Bakersfield administers the California Violence Intervention and Prevention (CalVIP) Cohort 5 Grant through its Office of Violence Intervention and Prevention (OVIP), which oversees the City’s Gun Violence Reduction Strategy (GVRS). As part of the City’s approved grant proposal, Garden Pathways was identified as a subgrantee to provide outreach and intensive case management services to individuals at the highest risk of involvement in gun violence, referred to as Very High -Risk Individuals (VHRIs), as defined by OVIP.
This agreement formalizes G arden Pathway’s role in delivering these services in alignment with GVRS objectives and Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) requirements. Garden Pathways will provide direct engagement, intensive case management, and coordination of support services to individuals identified as VHRIs, with the goal of reducing gun violence and victimization among the target population. Garden Pathways has partnered with the City in prior violence intervention efforts and brings experience serving individuals at high risk of violence within the community. Garden Pathways also maintains an e stablished organizational infrastructure and access to a range of supportive resources, positioning them to effectively connect participants to services and support long-term stabilization.
OVIP will provide program oversight, including contract administr ation, fiscal monitoring, and performance tracking, to ensure compliance with grant requirements and alignment with the City’s violence reduction strategy.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for this agreement is provided through the CalVIP Cohort 5 Grant awarded by BSCC. There is no impact on the City’s General Fund. All expenditures are reimbursed in accordance with grant requirements and subject to funding availability.
