CULTURAL RESOURCES RECORDS SEARCH
The California Office of Historic Preservation (OHP) contracts with the California Historical R esources Information System’s (CHRIS) regional Information Centers (ICs) to maintain information in the CHRIS inventory and make it available to local, state, and federal agencies, cultural resource professionals, Native American tribes, res earchers, and t he public. Re commendations mad e b y IC coordin ators or their staff regarding the interpretation and application of this information are advisory only. Such recommendations do not necessarily represent the eval uation or opinion of the State Hi storic Preserva tion Officer in carrying out t he OHP’s regulatory authority under federal and state law.
The following are the results of a search of the cultural resource files at the Southern San Joaquin Valley Information Center. These files include kno wn and recorded cultural resources sites, inventory and excavation reports filed with this office, and resources listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the OHP Built Environment Resources Directory, California State His torical L andmarks, Calif ornia Register of Historical Resources, California Inventory of Histor ic Resources, and California Points of Historical Interest. COMMENTS AND
RECOMMENDATIONS
No information was giv en as to the nature of the project or the current state of the project area.
Because a cultural resources study has not be completed on this project area, it is unknown if any cu ltural resources are present. Therefore, if ground disturbance will result from this project and the project area is currently vacant, we recommend a qualified, professional consultant conduct a field survey prior to ground disturbance activities to determine if cul tural resources are present. If ground disturbance will result from this project and the project area is currently developed with structures more than 45 years old, we recommend the structures be recorded and evaluated by a qua lified, profession al consultant pr ior to any alteration or demolition. If ground disturbance will result from th is project and the project area is currently developed with structures less than 45 years old or if no ground disturbance will result from this project, then no further cultural resource investigation is recommended at this time. Additionally, if any cultural resources are unearthed during ground disturbance activities, all work must halt in the area of the find and a qualified, professional consultant should be called out to assess the findings and make the appropriate mitigation recommendations. A list of qualified consultants can be found at www.chrisinfo.org.
