Department Budget Presentation Meeting

Absent: Vice Mayor Kaur, Councilmembers Weir and Koman

Eric Orellana, Leadership Counsel for Justice and Accountability, made comments regarding Reports item 3.a.
3. REPORTS
a. Fiscal Year 2025 Department Budget Presentations – Budget Workshop No. 2:
1. Public Safety/Vital Services Report
Public Safety/Vital Services Committee Chair, Nick Ortiz presented report.
Councilmember Gonzales requested staff review the
resolution outlining the functions and duties of the Public Safety/Vital Services Oversight Committee for possible revisions to the scope of work for the Committee.
Councilmember Gonzales requested staff research an
aggressive strategy to increase funding to the Bakersfield Section 115 Trust (related to unfunded liability and Othe Post- Employment Benefits) and the General Fund Reserve account.
City Manager Clegg made additional comments.
2. Human Resources Department
Human Resources Director Tenter made staff comments and provided a PowerPoint presentation.
Mayor called for a recess at 1:14 p.m. meeting was reconvened at 1:19 p.m.

Public Works Department Director Meyer made staff comments and provided a PowerPoint presentation.

Development Services Director Burns made staff comments and provided a PowerPoint presentation.
6. Water Resources Department
Water Resources Assistant Director Maldonado and Wastewater Manager Roldan made staff comments and provided a PowerPoint presentation.
7. General Fund Review
Finance Director McKeegan made staff comments and provided a PowerPoint presentation regarding Discretionary Projects.
8. Capital Project Review
City Manager Clegg made staff comments and provided a
PowerPoint presentation.
Motion by Councilmember Gonzales to receive and file budget presentations.
Motion was approved with Vice Mayor Kaur and Councilmembers Weir and Koman absent.
4. ADJOURNMENT
Mayor Goh adjourned the meeting at 2:54 p.m.
