SUBJECT: Amendment No. 1 to Agreement No. CA25-012 with Duane Morris (increase compensation $50,000; revised not to exceed $150,000) to provide outside legal services in the matter of City of Bakersfield v. BKR, LLC dba Ramada Bakersfield- North.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of the amendment to the Agreement.
BACKGROUND:
On October 30, 2025, the City entered into Departmental Agreement No. CA25-012 with Duane Morris in an amount not to exceed $100,000 for legal representation in City of Bakersfield v. BKR, LLC dba Ramada Bakersfield-North.
At this time, the City Attorney’ s Office requests that we amend the contract to add additional compensation of $50,000. This Amendment No. 1 to Agreement No. CA25-012 will result in a total Not to Exceed amount of $150,000 in order for outside counsel representation to continue in this matter.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Department has sufficient allocation in its Fiscal Year 2026-27 budget to contract for these additional services.
