Dear Members of the Bakersfield City Council,
I am writing to respectfully express my opposition to the proposed installation of a communication tower adjacent to Ronald Reagan Elementary School.
The safety and well-being of our children should always be a top priority when making decisions that impact our community. While I understand the importance of improving communication infrastructure, placing a tower immediately next to an elementary school raises significant concerns among parents and community members. In addition to questions about potential long-term health effects, many residents are concerned about the visual impact, property values, and the appropriateness of locating this type of infrastructure so close to young children.
I respectfully ask the City Council to carefully evaluate alternative locations that would meet the project’s objectives while minimizing its impact on students, families, and the surrounding neighborhood. Exploring sites farther from schools and other areas where children gather would demonstrate the City’s commitment to balancing technological needs with community interests.
I appreciate the work the City Council does on behalf of Bakersfield residents and ask that you give thoughtful consideration to the concerns of families who may be affected by this proposal. Thank you for your time and your commitment to protecting our community.
Respectfully,
Janette Dunivan
