MEETING DATE: August 26, 2026 AGENDA CATEGORY: Consent - Agreements TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
FROM: Zachary Meyer, Public Works Director
DATE: August 26, 2026
SUBJECT: Amendment No. 1 to Agreement No. 2025-170
with Los Dos Hermanos Trash Crew LLC (increase compensation $200,000, revised not to exceed $275,000, and extend term to September 10, 2027) for tree trimming and bulky item services.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of the amendments.
BACKGROUND:
Tree trimming and bulky item removal due to unmaintained vegetation and illegal dumping continue to present operational challenges. Overgrown trees and shrubbery in alleyways require trimming to ensure refuse collection vehicles can safely pass without damaging City equipment, trees, or other property. Low- hanging or overextended branches may obstruct access, pr eventing City crews from servicing entire alleyways until the obstruction is removed.
Additionally, bulky items illegally dumped within the public right-of-way create safety hazards and impede access for refuse collection and other City services, resulti ng in delays for residential and commercial customers. To address these challenges, the City has an existing contract with Los Dos Hermanos Trash Crew LLC.
Staff recommends increasing compensation by $ 200,000 for Los Dos Hermanos Trash Crew LLC, for a revised do not exceed amount of $ 275,000, and extending the Term to September 10, 2027 for tree trimming and bulky item removal services.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding will be from the Refuse Enterprise Fund. There is no impact to the City General Funds.
