MEETING DATE: August 26, 2026 AGENDA CATEGORY: Consent - Agreements TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
FROM: Evette Roldan, Assistant Water Director
DATE: August 11, 2026
SUBJECT: Amendment No. 1 to Agreement WR25-038 with Sentrimax Centrifuges Inc. (extend the term by one year and increase compensation by $400,000; revised not to exceed $500,000) to provide sludge dewatering centrifuge repair and maintenance for the Wastewater Division.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommend approval of amendment.
BACKGROUND:
The Water Department - Wastewater Division requires sludge dewatering centrifuge repair and maintenance services beyond the expertise of City Staff. These services include, but are not limited to, removing and installing the centrifuges (transportation included); troubleshoot, diagnose, and correct unknown problems; disassemble, clean, repair, and reassemble all parts and components of the centrifuges; balance and align scrolls and bowls of the centrifuges; test run fully completed centrifuges; perform routine preventive maintenance tasks such as regular inspection, lubrication, calibration, and part replacement and complete all work in a timely manner.
On September 10, 2025, City entered into Agreement No. WR25-038 with S entrimax Centrifuges Inc. (Sentrimax) to provide sludge dewatering repair and maintenance for the Wastewater Division. Sentrimax was selected through a formal Request for Qualifications (RFQ) process and was awarded an initial one - year contract. Since awarding the contract, Sentrimax has completed a variety of maintenance and repair projects, including variable frequency drive (VFD) and control programming, rebuilding centrifuge #3, and installing new drives for centrifuge #4.
At this time, given the increased need for repair and maintenance services to support ongoing operations and ensure the reliability of critical wastewater infrastructure, staff recommend extending the term by one year and increasing compensation by $ 400,000, for a revised total not t o exceed $ 500,000. This adjustment is in accordance with the original Agreement and will allow the Division to continue addressing essential maintenance, emergency repairs, and necessary system improvements without interruption to service.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Sufficient funds are budgeted in the Sewer Enterprise Fund for this amendment, therefore, there is no impact to the City General Fund associated with this amendment.
COUNCIL GOAL:
