SUBJECT: Agreement for employment of Ashley Zambrano as Chief Assistant City Attorney

RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of the Agreement.
BACKGROUND:
On March 25, 2026, an ordinance was adopted adding a new City Council appointed position entitled Chief Assistant City Attorney (Chief Assistant) pursuant to the Bakersfield City Charter Section 34, Chapter 2.06. Such position is by City Council appointment through a writte n contract. On August 26, 2026, City Council interviewed the applicants for the Chief Assistant position selecting and negotiating the terms of a contract with Ashley Zambrano.
The attached contract sets forth the terms of said employment.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The position was approved as apart of the Fiscal Year 2026 -27 budget and is within the City Attorneys Office budget.
