SUBJECT: Amendment No. 1 to Agreement No. 2024 -143 with Clifford and Brown ($100,000; revised not to exceed $200,000)
to provide outside legal services in the matter of Ana Hernandez, et al v. City of Bakersfield.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of the amendment to the Agreement.
BACKGROUND:
On June 12, 2024, the City entered into Agreement No. 2024-143 with Clifford & Brown in an amount not to exceed $100,000 for legal representation in Ana Hernandez, et al v. City of Bakersfield, et al.
At this time, the City Attorney’s Office requests that we amend the contract to add additional compensation of $100,000. This Amendment No. 1 to Agreement No. 2024-143 will result in a total Not to Exceed amount of $200,000. The case has settled and the amendment is needed to bring this matter to a closure.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The services to extend this contract are to be paid within th e Fiscal Year 2026 -27 budget of the City Attorney’s office.
