MEETING DATE: September 16, 2026 AGENDA CATEGORY: Consent - Agreements TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
FROM: Zachary Meyer, Public Works Director
DATE: August 26, 2026
SUBJECT: Amendment No. 1 to Agreement No. 2024-181 with AECOM Technical Services Inc. (extend term and increase compensation by $14,000; revised not to exceed $127,000 for design engineering services for Downtown Part Circle Culverts Project. (Ward 2)
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this amendment
BACKGROUND:
Part Circle Culverts within the project limits convey drainage through the Downtown area. The construction of this project will replace the existing culverts with concrete cross-gutters and storm drain infrastructure to alleviate drainage issues within the downtown area, as identified in the City of Bakersfield’s Downtown Master Drainage Study.
Due to delays in the commencement of construction and unforeseen circumstances encountered in the field, AECOM has been required to provide additional construction engineering support services beyond the originally anticipated scope of work. Therefore, the City wishes to extend the Term to December 31, 2027, and increase compensation by $14,000.00 for a revised not to exceed amount of $ 127,000.00 for Agreement No. 2024-181 with AECOM. This amendment is in direct correlation to the additional time and services necessary to produce a complete project.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This design consultant agreement is fully funded by Sewer Enterprise Funds (SEF) that are available for storm drain improvements in the downtown area (Project No. E4K303). Therefore, this amendment will have no impact on the General Fund.
COUNCIL GOAL:
