SUBJECT: Adoption of an ordinanc e amending Bakersfield Municipal Code Section 1.12.020 by adding Annexation No. 723
consisting of approximately 26.32 gross acres to Ward 2, generally located on the northwest corner of Washington Street and East Belle Terrace. (FR 8/26/26) (Ward 2)
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends adoption of the ordinance.
BACKGROUND:
First reading of the ordinance was given on August 26, 2026. This ordinance amends the ward boundaries to include Annexation No. 723 in Council Ward 2. This annexation was recently approved by the Kern County Local Area Formation Commission.
The parcels have a General Plan designation of LI (Light Industri al) and SI (Service Industrial) and is City pre-zoned M-1 (Light Manufacturing) and M-2 (General Manufacturing). This annexation was initiated by the City of Bakersfield. There are plans to extend East Belle Terrace east through the property to South Washington Street.
The surrounding land uses consist primarily of undeveloped and developed industrial uses.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The exchange of property tax revenues for this annexation is covered under the Master Tax Split Agreement (Memorandum of Understanding 15-277) between the City of Bakersfield and the County of Kern.
