ALLOCATION OF FUNDS FOR THE 4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS SPECTACULAR EVENT EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Staff is requesting Council's direction for the 4th of July event. The direction requested is to determine between two different programs for the 4th of July event. The programs proposed are having the 4th of July event with the Sports Park open or having fireworks only due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
DISCUSSION:
For the past two years, the 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular event has been a shortened fireworks show only due to COVID-19. Two types of fireworks programs are presented for the Council’s review. Program A and Program B vary in cost, duration, number of fireworks, and type of fireworks used. Program A is similar to the types of fireworks used in 2019 and prior, while Program B is similar to the types of fireworks used in 2020 and 2021 as a result of the pandemic.
The Program A fireworks display duration is approximately 20 minutes, costs $44,000 and includes 299 grand finale fireworks and a total of 872 fireworks throughout the entire show.
The Program B fireworks display duration is approximately 16 minutes, costs $23,000 and includes 202 grand finale fireworks and a total of 606 fireworks throughout the entire show.
The Council is asked to provide direction to staff on the type of fireworks display to select for the 2022 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular event.

None.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Provide direction to staff by approving Program A or Program B for the 2022 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular display and authorize the City Manager to execute the agreement.
