BARSTOW YOUTH SPORTS COALITION - LONG TERM TEMPORARY USE PERMIT & FEE WAIVER EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The Barstow Youth Sports Coalition is a non-profit organization. This organization is currently the hosting the Farmer’s Market in Barstow. Farmers markets facilitate personal connections and bonds of mutual benefits between farmers, shoppers, and communities. It also creates an opportunity where farmers can simultaneously sell fresh, local food and serve as food educators, revitalizing the way consumers shop and eat.
The Farmers Market is a monthly occurrence in the City of Barstow. The goal is to build a farmers market that would benefit the local residents within the community, provide access to fresh foods, encourage entrepreneurship, and build community pride.

FISCAL IMPACT:
Waiving the Temporary Use Permit for the Barstow Youth Sports Coalition will have a fiscal impact of $27 in foregone fees for the permit. If there are multiple events associated with the Youth Sports Coalition's hosting of the Farmer's Market, the fiscal impact would be $27 per event.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Staff recommends granting a long term Temporary Use Permit for the Farmer’s Market beginning in April of 2022, along with waiving fees associated with the Temporary Use Permit. In addition, Staff recommends granting the City Manager permissions to approve any modifications to dates and/or frequency of the Farmer’s Market.
