WHAT IS RELAY FOR LIFE
RELAY FOR LIFE is a life changing event here in our community of Barstow. It is the time when families and friends come together to celebrate LIFE. As you know that cancer doesn't just effect the cancer patient but it also effects that person's family, friends, work associates and entire circle of people that person associates with.
RELAY FOR LIFE is a signature fundraising event for the American Cancer Society. Funds raised are used for research, education, advocacy and patient services. This is an organized community fundraising walk. Participants form TEAMS from groups of family, friends, churches, clubs, businesses and the TEAM will keep someone on the track for the duration of the event. This year our event will be 6 hours starting at 3:00 p.m. with our Survivor Lap and ending at 9:00 p.m. with the luminary and the LAP OF HOPE.
RELAY FOR LIFE is a family-friendly community event. Our entire community is invited and this is free to the community. There will be entertainment, a kids camp available for the little ones, and those attending will learn about symptoms, programs, resources of for all kinds of cancer along with having food, games and activities. There is nothing finer than seeing generations visiting at the camp sites and knowing that we are doing everything we can so that our children and grandchildren will NEVER have to hear those words, "YOU HAVE CANCER". We ask for your support in the amount of $1500 to help with this event.

What is Relay For Life?
Relay For Life is the signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.
Relay events are coordinated by volunteers in more than 6,000 communities and 24 countries. Teams raise funds in the months leading up to the Relay event, and then camp out at local schools, parks, or fairgrounds and take turns walking or running around a track or path.
Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times, while entertainment, music, and fun activities keep things lively. Symbolizing the SURVIV battle waged around the clock by those facing cancer, the event lasts up to 2016 24 hours and empowers communities and individuals to take a stand.
