AGENDA ITEM
AGENDA MATTER:

FIRE STATION ALERTING
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

On August 2, 2021 the purchase of a Station alerting system was brought to the City Council and approved for the use of American Rescue Plan funding (ARPA).

On February 22, 2022, the purchase of the USDD G2 hardware and software and Central Square software were brought to council and approved, with the noting that staff would return for the approval of the remaining items to complete the remainder of the project.

Staff is now seeking the City Council's approval for those installation services and the remaining items to complete the remainder of the project.

DISCUSSION:

April 2022, City staff posted a Request For Proposal (RFP) for the installation of the station alerting USDD G2 Hardware, networking and minimal radio installation services. Staff initially announced the RFP, and did not receive any responses. Staff then submitted an addendum to the RFP, with a later proposal submission date, and received one bid from Giant Services.

Staff is recommending:

Selection of Giant Services as the vendor to provide the installation services defined within the RFP.

Purchase Replacement Radios for the End of Life radios - this includes the Motorola Hand Held Radios for Fire, and the Radio Base Station for the Police Department, Fire Station 361, and Fire Station 366. (Note: The attached main radio quote total is $185,928.89. However, $63,000 was allocated at mid-year budget 2022, and the remaining balance is requested now, to complete the order.) Purchase a radio antenna at the Police Department for radio alerting.

Purchase networking hardware for Station 366 for station alerting.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Funding is proposed to be appropriated from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Federal Grant.

Sufficient funding is available within the grant to appropriate $267,064.07, to account number 202.202.202.08.814, for the purchase of:
