APPROVAL TO EXTEND CONTRACT AGREEMENT WITH KLEINFELDER INC. FOR FIRST AVENUE
BRIDGE OVER BNSF
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Staff is requesting approval to extend a contract agreement with Kleinfelder Inc., for the Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E) phase of the North First Avenue Bridge over BNSF.
DISCUSSION:
On October 20, 2015, the City Council approved a contract for approximately five years. The contract reached the end of the term on October 20, 2020. The consultant has continued to provide services for the PS&E phase of the project. The consultant has worked diligently to complete this phase but has encounter several delays such as tri-party agreement, property acquisition, and state approvals. Staff is requesting the City Council formally extend the services for an additional five (5) years and two (2) months term with a new termination of December 20, 2025. This action will extend the contract to the end of construction period and will allow the consultant to respond to any design or specification clarification needed from project manager(s), contractors, San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA), or City staff.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No additional funds have been requested.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the first amendment to the contract agreement with Kleinfelder Inc., for an additional five years and two months term, and authorize the City Manager to execute the same.
