AWARD OF MEASURE Q YOUTH SPORTS COMMUNITY PROMOTIONAL FUNDS FOR FISCAL YEAR 2022-2023
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
At the June 20, 2022 City Council meeting, the Fiscal Year 2022-2023 Budget was adopted which includes a $50,000 appropriation from the Measure Q Fund for senior and youth programs. Of these funds, $37,500 is allocated towards providing in-kind resources and services to youth sports organizations that provide social and economic benefits and/or recognition to the community.
DISCUSSION:
At the December 16, 2019 City Council meeting, the Youth Community Promotional Fund Policy was adopted. The purpose of this proposed policy is to establish guidelines for providing in-kind resources and services to youth sports organizations that provide social and economic benefits and/or recognition to the community. A total of five applications were received in early August. Based on reviewing each application, staff recommends awarding a total of $27,629 of in-kind donations from the Measure Q fund and $48,665 in fee waivers. Exhibit A provides a list of youth sports organizations receiving in-kind donations and/or waiver of fees.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$27,629 charged to Measure Q Youth Fund Account No. 102.150.542.07.770 and $48,665 of in-kind donations of fee waivers.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Authorize the allocation of $27,629 from the Measure Q Fund towards providing in-kind donations and $48,665 in fee waivers to the youth sports organizations listed on Exhibit A as attached.
