PRESENTATION OF PROCLAMATION TO DESERT SANCTUARY, INC. IN RECOGNITION OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH - OCTOBER 2022
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
A proclamation will be presented to Desert Sanctuary, Inc. in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month - October 2022.
DISCUSSION:
Domestic violence is a national tragedy that touches the lives of Americans of all ages, leaving a devastating impact on women, men, and children alike. In order to combat domestic violence, we must provide assistance and support that meets the needs of its victims. Locally, Desert Sanctuary, Inc., which has been in operation since 1982, provides the necessary resources, assistance, and shelter to local victims of domestic violence so that they may escape such physical and mental abuse.
To promote public awareness of domestic violence and to promote efforts to eliminate it, October has been designated Domestic Violence Awareness Month. It is only fitting that the City of Barstow shows its support and commitment in eliminating domestic violence, which threatens so many of our citizens. In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the City of Barstow will present a proclamation to Desert Sanctuary, Inc.
