AGENDA MATTER:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BARSTOW, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON NOVEMBER 8, 2022, DECLARING
THE RESULTS AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS PROVIDED BY LAW
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Adopt Resolution No. ____-2022 reciting the fact of the General Municipal Election held on November 8, 2022, declaring the results and such other matters as provided by law.
DISCUSSION:
On March 7, 2022, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 5083-2022, calling for a General Municipal Election to be held on November 8, 2022, to present to the voters a measure asking whether to continue with a system in which the Mayor is elected at-large by the voters or revert to a five-members elected bydistricts City Council with the Mayor appointed by the City Council from among its five members.
On June 6, 2022, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 5089-2022, calling and giving notice of a General Statewide General Election to be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, to fill the following vacancies:
Member of the City Council (District 1) Full term of four (4) years Member of the City Council (District 2) Full term of four (4) years At the same meeting of June 6, 2022, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 5090-2022, requesting the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Bernardino to consolidate a General Municipal Election to be held on November 8, 2022.
Said election was held, and pursuant to the provisions of Section 15300 et. seq. of the California Elections Code, the County Registrar of Voters completed the canvass of the election and submitted the results thereof within the time allowed by the Elections Code. A resolution declaring the elections results as determined by the San Bernardino County Registrar is attached for City Council review and adoption.
