SB 1383 IMPLEMENTATION UPDATE
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Staff will provide an update on the implementation of SB 1383 programs.
DISCUSSION:
Under SB 1383, the city is responsible for the implementation, record keeping, and reporting of SB 1383 programs including:
1. Mandatory Organic Waste Collection and Recycling
2. Education and Outreach
3. Edible Food Recovery
4. Procurement
5. Capacity Planning
6. Monitoring and Enforcement
In June 2022, Council approved the necessary items which enabled staff and Burrtec to continue working towards meeting these responsibilities and achieving compliance. This presentation will discuss the status of implementation activities.
