COMMUNITY PROMOTIONAL FUND APPLICATION FROM DOS COSTAS COMMUNICATIONS EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Dos Costas Communications is asking for financial assistance to help offset the costs of the 17th Annual New Mexico Chili Cook-off and Belen Fiestas.
DISCUSSION:
The 17th Annual New Mexico Chili Cook-off and Belen Fiestas will be held April 1, 2023. Dos Costas Communications is seeking financial assistance to help offset the cost of the event. They are requesting a $25,000 monetary donation and waiver of fees for the use of Fogelsong Park, however the Community Promotional Fund Policy, as stated in PROGRAM GUIDELINES - Item 9; Community events shall only be eligible to receive City in-kind services and a maximum of $1,000 cash grant unless an exception is approved by the City Council.
Attached is the Community Promotional Fund Application along with supporting documents for Council review. Per the Community Promotional Fund Policy, the City will accept Community Promotional Fund applications during the course of each fiscal year until the contingency funding allocation has been exhausted.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$1,500 charged to Measure Q - Community Promotional Fund Account No. 102.150.542.07.755 for a cash grant award and $3,227 of in-kind donations of fee waivers. Cash grant awards to-date for Fiscal Year 2022-2023 total $0 and in-kind donations of fee waivers total $48,637.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Staff is recommending the approval of community promotional fund cash donation in the amount of $1,500 and waiver of fees for the use of Fogelsong Park, tables, chairs and staff time in the amount of $3,227 to Dos Costas Communications, pursuant to the Community Promotional Fund Policy, Section A (Program Guidelines), No. 9.
