A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BARSTOW, CALIFORNIA APPROVING THE CREATION OF THE
POSITION OF DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SAFETY AND POLICE
CHIEF, APPROVING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SAFETY AND
POLICE CHIEF JOB DESCRIPTION, AND DIRECTING THE CITY
MANAGER TO APPOINT A DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SAFETY
AND POLICE CHIEF
WHEREAS, the City of Barstow desires to create the new position of Director of Public Safety and Police Chief; and
WHEREAS, the City of Barstow desires to adopt a job description for the position of Director of Public Safety and Police Chief, which job description has been approved by the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the City of Barstow desires to make an appointment to the position of Director of Public Safety and Police Chief; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Barstow Municipal Code section 2.08.070, the City Manager may appoint a Director of Public Safety and Police Chief after consultation with the Mayor and whole City Council in a duly noticed open or closed session Council meeting; and
WHEREAS, during a duly noticed closed session council meeting on April 3, 2023, the City Manager consulted with the Mayor and whole City Council regarding the appointment of a Director of Public Safety and Police Chief.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:
1. The City Council hereby creates the position of Director of Public Safety and Police Chief.
2. The City Council hereby adopts the job description, attached and incorporated by reference, for the position of Director of Public Safety and Police Chief.
3. The City Council hereby directs the City Manager to make an appointment to the position of Director of Public Safety and Police Chief.
