RESOLUTION NO. ____-2023
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BARSTOW, CALIFORNIA APPROVING THE REORGANIZATION
AND ELIMINATION OF THE PARKS AND RECREATION
DEPARTMENT SUPERINTENDENT POSITION
WHEREAS, the City of Barstow desires to streamline and make its organization as effective as possible; and
WHEREAS, the City of Barstow finds that the Parks and Recreation Department Superintendent position is superfluous since all maintenance duties and oversight requirements that previously fell on the Parks and Recreation Department Superintendent position are currently performed by the Parks and Open Space Maintenance Supervisor classification under the separate Facilities Maintenance division of the Public Works Department; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Barstow Personnel Policies Rule 2, section 1, the City Council shall approve amendments to the classification plan, including the reorganization of a department and elimination of a position.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:
1. The City Council hereby eliminates the Parks and Recreation Department Superintendent position.
2. The City Manager, and his designee, are directed to take all necessary actions to implement this Resolution.
