AGENDA MATTER:
RESOLUTION NO. 5142-2023 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BARSTOW TEMPORARILY
CLOSING CERTAIN STREETS WITHIN THE CITY OF BARSTOW IN ACCORDANCE WITH CALIFORNIA VEHICLE CODE SECTION 21101(E) FOR THE SATURDAY NIGHT CRUISERS MAIN STREET USA CAR SHOW.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The Saturday Night Cruisers of Barstow are once again sponsoring the Main Street USA Car Show, and the organization is requesting that the City authorize the street closure.
DISCUSSION:
The Saturday Night Cruisers are sponsoring the 24th Annual Main Street USA Car Show to be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023. They are requesting approval of the necessary street closure of East Main Street from Barstow Road to First Avenue (barricades to be placed on the east side of First Avenue), including delivery, set up, and takedown of the barricades by Public Services staff.
Saturday Night Cruisers will be providing proof of insurance for this event. The Public Works Department estimates their staff time costs to be approximately $3,486.00, which is included in the budget.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$3,486.00 from the Community Promotional Fund Account No. 120.150.542.07.755.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 5142-2023, temporarily closing certain streets within the City of Barstow in accordance with California Vehicle Code Section 21101(e) for the Main Street USA Car Show, and waive the full reading.
