COMMUNITY PROMOTIONAL FUND APPLICATION FROM THE BARSTOW CHAMBER OF
COMMERCE
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
To help offset the costs of the Community Recognition Awards to be held on April 19, 2024, the Barstow Chamber of Commerce is asking the City to waive the fees associated with the use of the Cora Harper Center in the amount of $4,000.
DISCUSSION:
The Barstow Chamber of Commerce is set to host the Annual Community Recognition Awards Ceremony on April 19, 2024, at the Cora Harper Center. This event aims to acknowledge those who have contributed to positive changes in Barstow. They have asked for a waiver of fees totaling $4,000 for using the Cora Harper Center.
According to section B, item 7 of the Community Promotional Fund Application:
7. The maximum promotional grant amount that shall be awarded to any one agency or individual in any single fiscal year shall be $3,000; the amount will generally be significantly less. The City Council may award a higher amount in rare exceptions based on the total benefit to the community.
The Barstow Chamber of Commerce is seeking Council approval for the additional funds to honor the City's contributors. The Community Promotional Fund Application and supporting documents are enclosed for the Council's review.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$4,000 of in-kind donations of fee waivers.
For Fiscal Year 2023-2024 the total amount of fee waiver for GL Account 102.150.542.07.755 of in-kind donations of fee is $55,347 and cash donation amount of $1,500.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve a donation from the Community Promotional Fund of an in-kind amount of $4,000 to waive fees for using the Cora Harper Center.
