RESOLUTION NO. XX-2024
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF BARSTOW
WINTER HOLIDAY CLOSURE.
WHEREAS, most full-time City employees are provided with paid holiday leave on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year Eve’s Day, and New Year's Day per their respective Memorandum of Understanding; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to express its sincere appreciation to City employees for their dedicated service to the City and its citizens throughout the year; and WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the value of time spent with families during the holiday season; and
WHEREAS, the City will experience a slight reduction in its unfunded paid leave accrued liability by requiring employees to use their own accrued paid leave times to cover these proposed days off; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to effectively accommodate time-off requests by City employees during the holidays
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Barstow does hereby grant the following:
Notwithstanding public safety, other emergency call-out services, and essential operations, City facilities will be closed on December 24th and reopen the day after January 1 of every year.
City employees will be required to utilize their own accrued paid leave hours (i.e., vacation, compensatory time, holiday compensatory time, administrative leave, and/or floating holiday), to cover the holiday closures.
