COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM
AGENDA MATTER:
REALLOCATION OF FUNDS FOR EQUIPMENT PURCHASES
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
During the May 20th Council Meeting, staff presented a list of allocation requests for purchasing equipment, including the installation of lights at Fogelson Park. The initial estimated cost was $384,690.00, but actual costs came in at $492,882.25. We are requesting the reallocation of $108,192.25 from Measure Q Park Improvements to cover this shortfall.
DISCUSSION:
The May 20th Council Meeting included a detailed proposal for various equipment purchases to enhance operational efficiency and public safety. Among these, the Fogelson Lights installation was initially estimated at $384,690.00 based on an aged quote. However, actual costs exceeded this estimate, requiring additional funds to complete the project. The actual cost of installing lights at Fogelson Park is $492,882.25. This exceeds the original appropriation by $108,192.25. To cover this deficit, we propose reallocating funds from the Measure Q Park Improvements budget.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This reallocation will not impact the overall financial stability of the City as Measure Q funds are specifically allocated for park improvements, and the Fogelson Lights project falls within this category.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Staff recommends that the City Council take the following actions: Authorize the reallocation of $108,192.25 from Measure Q Park Improvements account to cover the shortfall in the Fogelson Lights project budget. This action will allow the project to proceed without delay and ensure completion as planned.
