AMENDMENT TO MOU BETWEEN
THE BARSTOW FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT
AND
THE BARSTOW PROFESSIONAL FIREFIGHTERS’ ASSOCIATION (BPFA) The Barstow Fire Protection District (“District”) and the Barstow Professional Firefighters’ Association (BPFA), hereby enter into this Agreement in order to modify the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) entered into between the District and the BFPA on December 19, 2022 with an effective date of July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2025.
The Amendment to the MOU is made necessary to include an agreed upon amendment to Article 29 – Skill Pay. This Amendment shall be incorporated into the MOU by this reference. Article 29 – Skill Pay shall be amended to include an agreed upon increase to the Paramedic Certification.
Article 29 – Skill Pay shall be amended and replaced in its entirety as follows:
ARTICLE 29 – SKILL PAY
Employees who possess a Paramedic, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Hazardous Materials Technician (HMT), or Rescue Technician (Urban Search and Rescue – USAR) certification shall be eligible to receive skill pay in the amounts designated below. Those employees who possess more than one certification shall be compensated for each certification that is obtained.
Paramedic Certification: $1,000 per month
EMT Certification: $275 per month
HMT Certification $125 per month
USAR Certification $100 per month
Employees who, as of the date of approval of this amendment to the MOU, possess the Paramedic Certification shall receive the increased amount described in the preceding paragraph beginning on July 7, 2024. Employees who become eligible for any of the aforementioned skill pays after the approval of this MOU amendment are responsible for submitting proof of certification to the Human Resources Department. Employees attaining any of the aforementioned certifications shall be eligible for the skill pay beginning the first full day of the pay period following submittal of the certification to the Human Resources Department. No retroactive pay will be paid for delay in submitting certification to the Human Resources Department. Employees are encouraged to submit proof of certification as soon as possible after issuance of the certificate to avoid delay in payment of the associated skill pay.
