DESIGNATION OF CITY OF BARSTOW REPRESENTATIVES FOR SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY
HOMELESS PARTNERSHIP AND DESERT REGIONAL STEERING COMMITTEE, INTERAGENCY
COUNCIL ON HOMELESSNESS, AND CONTINUUM OF CARE BOARDS
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Staff recommends the City Council, by Minute Action, designate a City of Barstow Representative, and Alternate, for the San Bernardino County Homeless Partnership and its Desert Regional Steering Committee, Interagency Council on Homelessness, and Continuum of Care Boards DISCUSSION:
The City of Barstow is an active participant in the San Bernardino County Homeless Partnership. Formed in 2007, the County Homeless Partnership is a collaboration of community and faith-based organizations, educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, private industry, and federal, state, and local governments. The County Homeless Partnership administers the county-wide Continuum of Care, connecting persons experiencing homelessness, and vulnerable to becoming homeless, with services. It also distributes significant amounts of federal, state, regional, and local funding for homelessness prevention and response. More information is available on the County’s website here:

The City of Barstow’s current representative to the County Homeless Partnership, and its Desert Regional Steering Committee, Interagency Council on Homelessness, and Continuum of Care Boards, is Mayor Paul Courtney, with a former employee as designated alternate. The City Council may designate Mayor Courtney, or may designate another member of City Council to serve as the City’s representative. The City Council may also designate a member of the City Council to serve as an alternate in the absence of the City representative.
