AGENDA MATTER:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BARSTOW TEMPORARILY CLOSING
CERTAIN STREETS WITHIN THE CITY OF BARSTOW IN ACCORDANCE WITH CALIFORNIA VEHICLE CODE SECTION 21101(E) FOR THE MAIN STREET USA FESTIVAL.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
City Council to adopt Resolution No. XXXX-2024, approving the Request for Street Closure for the Main Street USA Festival on October 12, 2024.
DISCUSSION:
The Main Street USA Festival event organizers are requesting a street closure of East Main Street from Barstow Road to First Avenue, between East Main Street and Clark Street on October 12, 2024 from 5:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The cost of providing the requested street closure services, including employee labor, traffic control devices, and use of City equipment is approximately $3,204.27 and allocated as follows.
Employee Labor $ 1,519.15
Equipment Rate $ 677,40
Traffic Control Devices $ 1,007.72
Total $ 3,204.27
During the regular Council meeting on August 5, 2024, the City Council approved the Community Promotional Fund Application submitted by the Barstow Chamber of Commerce requesting funds for traffic control and associated street closure costs associated with this event.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds in the amount of $3,204.27 for this event are included in the Fiscal Year 2024/2024 Budget, Account No. 102.150.541.07.755 (Measure Q).
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. XXXX-2024, temporarily closing certain streets within the City of Barstow in accordance with California Vehicle Code Section 21101(e) for the Main Street USA Car Show, and waive the full reading.
