AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH CALIFORNIA OFFICE OF EMERGENCY SERVICES (CALOES) FOR THE PURCHASE OF ENGINE 328 (TYPE-1 FIRE
ENGINE WITH EQUIPMENT)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Staff recommends the City Council/Barstow Fire Protection District authorize the City Manager to enter into an agreement with CalOES for the purchase of a surplus Fire Engine (Type-1) fully outfitted with all required equipment.
DISCUSSION:
California Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) has offered the Fire District the opportunity to purchase a Type-1 Fire Engine (Cost: $40,0000) which is currently being consider for surplus due to their scheduled vehicle replacement program.
CALOES Engine 328 will be fully equipped (approximately $130,000 in value) and can be put in to service immediately after acceptance. This engine has been housed and assigned to Fire Station 361 and maintained by City of Barstow Fleet Services on behalf of CALOES.
This apparatus (Shop #330) will reinforce the current reserve fleet and provide the required inventory to meet the response requirements for the Community.
All Fire District and Fleet Services Personnel are intimate with this vehicle and all parties support this recommended action.

Due to the unique nature of this fully equipped fire engine, competitive procurement is not required for this purchase. The City is saving a substantial amount of public funds by taking advantage of this opportunity to purchase this equipped surplus engine.

No Impact and remains within FY24/25 budget. This initiative of $40,000 transaction with California Office of Emergency Services from Account #225.225.225.06.626 (Current Balance: $80,000 unexpended) to Regular Meeting
