NOMINATION AND APPOINTMENT TO COMMITTEES
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Council Member Williams has notified Mayor Silva of his decision to step down from both the Homeward Bound Committee and the Rules and Policy Committee, resulting in vacancies on each. In addition, Mayor Pro Tem Rose has requested that the City Council designate a representative to serve on the Desert Regional Steering Committee.
Given that six months have passed since the last review of committee assignments, Mayor Silva would like to use this opportunity to invite Council Members to express their interest in filling the newly created vacancies or to be considered for reassignment to any of the City’s standing committees.
DISCUSSION:
Council Member Williams has informed Mayor Silva of his intention to step down from the Homeward Bound Committee and the Rules and Policy Committee, creating vacancies on both.
In addition, Mayor Pro Tem Rose is requesting that the City Council select a representative and alternate to serve on the Desert Regional Steering Committee.
As six months have passed since the last review of committee assignments, Mayor Silva would like to take this opportunity to ask the Council if any members are interested in filling the current vacancies or would like to be considered for assignment to any other standing committees.

None.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
That the City Council:
1. Appoint Council Members to fill the vacancies on the Homeward Bound Committee and the Rules and Policy Committee;
2. Designate a representative to serve on the Desert Regional Steering Committee;
3. Review all current committee assignments and determine representatives and alternates as appropriate;
