The City of Barstow is proposing a community celebration in recognition of Cinco de Mayo on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Foglesong Park (300 Avenue G). The event is intended to celebrate Mexican culture and provide a family-friendly opportunity for community members to gather and engage in cultural festivities.

The event would include live entertainment, games, community engagement activities, food vendors and cultural programming. Staff is requesting City Council approval to allocate funding to support the event.

DISCUSSION:

The proposed Cinco de Mayo celebration is intended to provide an inclusive community event that highlights cultural heritage while bringing residents together in a positive and family-friendly environment.

The event would be coordinated by the Parks and Recreation Department, with support from the Police Department, Public Works and Community Development Department.

Planned activities include live music or entertainment, cultural performances, family games, food vendors and community engagement opportunities. The event would be free and open to the public.
