AGENDA MATTER:
APPROVAL OF JOB DESCRIPTIONS
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
A comprehensive Classification and Compensation Study was conducted by MGT Consulting Group at the end of 2024. As part of that study, job descriptions across all bargaining units were reviewed and updated to reflect current duties, organizational needs, and industry standards.
Human Resources initially shared the updated job descriptions with bargaining unit representatives in May 2025. In recent months, additional meetings were held with unit representatives and City leadership to further review the job descriptions. Feedback received from department directors and bargaining unit representatives has been incorporated into the final versions presented for approval.
The City is now preparing to implement these job descriptions as part of the NeoGov online recruitment management system. Approval of the final job descriptions will allow the City to move forward with system implementation and ensure consistency and accuracy in classification documentation across all units.
DISCUSSION:
Following completion of the Classification and Compensation Study in 2024, Human Resources distributed the job descriptions to bargaining units and continued engagement through additional meetings in recent months. These discussions allowed for clarification of duties, alignment with operational needs, and incorporation of feedback from both department directors and unit representatives. The job descriptions included in this item represent the final versions incorporating that feedback.
Implementation of these updated job descriptions will:
• Ensure consistency across departments and classifications • Support the City’s NeoGov system implementation
• Provide clarity in job duties and expectations
• Align classifications with current operational practices The job descriptions included in this action represent classifications within the following groups:
