AGENDA ITEM
AGENDA MATTER:
ACCEPTANCE OF CONTRACT AGREEMENT WITH CENTIGEX FOR WE-TIP ANONYMOUS CRIME REPORTING SERVICES.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Staff is recommending that City Council approve the five-year contract agreement with Centegix to provide We-Tip anonymous crime reporting services for the Barstow Police Department.
DISCUSSION:
The proposed agreement with Centegix (We-Tip) will provide the City with a secure, confidential, anonymous crime reporting platform that encourages residents, employees, and visitors to report criminal activity and public safety concerns without fear of retaliation or disclosure of their identity. The service supports community-oriented policing by increasing opportunities for the public to share information that may assist the police department in preventing and investigating crimes.
We-Tip accepts anonymous tips through multiple reporting methods, including telephone, online, and mobile platforms. Tips are forwarded to the appropriate law enforcement personnel for review and followup, providing valuable investigative leads while maintaining the anonymity of the reporting party.
Implementing this service will enhance community engagement, improve the flow of actionable information to the police department, and support the City’s ongoing commitment to public safety.
The annual billing rate will be as follows:
• Year 1 $3,699.00
• Year 2 $3,500.00
• Year 3 $3,500.00
• Year 4 $3,500.00
• Year 5 $3,500.00
Grant Total $17,699.00
FISCAL IMPACT:
The cost of the agreement will be funded through the approved police budget. Sufficient funds are available within the current fiscal year budget. Future funding will be subject to annual budget appropriations.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve a five-year agreement with Centegix (WeTip) in an amount not to exceed $17,699 to provide Joint Meeting Council/BFPD
