RESOLUTION NO. _____ -2026
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BARSTOW
NAMING THE RECENTLY REFURBISHED FIELDS AT FOGLESONG
PARK AS THE “BARSTOW POLICE FIELD,” AND THE “BARSTOW
FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT FIELD”
WHEREAS, section 12.20.110 of the Municipal Code for the City of Barstow authorizes the City Council to name all city streets, parks and facilities, and to designate commemorative street names and plaques; and
WHEREAS, facility names shall be selected to recognize individuals or families that have made a lasting and significant contribution to the betterment of the city, or natural or historical features related to the Barstow community; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to name the newly refurbished baseball/softball fields at Foglesong Park to honor an important individual and recognize the significant contributions of Barstow First Responders that have and continue to make a lasting contribution to Barstow; and
WHEREAS, the public safety personnel of the Barstow Police Department, and Barstow Fire Protection District, are deserving of recognition for their individual and collective contributions to Barstow; and
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Barstow does hereby find, resolve, and order as follows:
SECTION 1. Incorporation of Recitals. The City Council finds that the above set forth recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by reference, as if set forth herein in full.
SECTION 2. Designation of Facilities. Pursuant to section 12.20.110 of the Municipal Code, the recently refurbished facilities at Fogelsong Park shall hereby be known as follows:
Foglesong East Field – the “Barstow Police Field”
Fogleson West Field – the “Barstow Fire Protection District Field” SECTION 3. Authorization. The City Manager is directed to execute all documents, agreements, and allocate staff resources to purchase signage and installation materials appropriate for such designation of such facilities, and to plan and execute a dedication ceremony for the fields to be attended by the Barstow City Council and general public at a time appropriate for observing the contributions being recognized.
SECTION 4. Severability. If any provision, section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause, or word of this Resolution, or the application thereof to any person or #450237v1<IMANAGE> - Reso Naming Fields 7-21-2026
circumstance, is rendered or declared invalid or unenforceable by any court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions, sections, subsections paragraphs, sentences, clauses, or words of this Resolution, and their application to other persons or circumstances, shall not be affected thereby and shall remain in full force and effect and, to that end, the provisions of this Resolution are severable.
SECTION 4. CEQA: The City Council hereby finds that the actions approved by this Resolution have potential effect on the environment, and that no environmental review is required.
SECTION 5. Effective Date. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
SECTION 6. Certification. The City Clerk shall certify the adoption of this Resolution.
