AWARD OF MEASURE Q YOUTH COMMUNITY PROMOTIONAL FUNDS FY 26-27 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Budget was adopted which includes an appropriation from Measure Q Fund for youth sports programs. Measure Q Funds are allocated towards providing in-kind resources and services to youth sports organizations that provide social and economic benefits and/or recognition to the community.
DISCUSSION:
The Measure Q Youth Community Promotional Fund provides support for qualifying youth programs and activities that benefit Barstow youth. Youth sports organizations submitted requests for assistance with facility use, staffing, equipment, supplies, shipping, taxes, and safety-related services for Fiscal Year 2026-2027.
Staff reviewed each submission and verified that all required documents were provided. Based on that review, the seven organizations listed below have satisfied the documentation requirements for consideration under the Measure Q Youth Community Promotional Fund.
The requested assistance will support practices, games, tournaments, field operations, scorekeeping, equipment, and player-safety needs. Approval will authorize the allocations shown below, subject to the City's applicable purchasing, reimbursement, facility-use, and administrative procedures.
The applications and policy are attached for City Council review.
FISCAL IMPACT:
During the adoption of the Fiscal Year 2026–2027 budget, the City Council approved $150,000 in Measure Q funding for the Youth Community Promotional Fund to support qualifying youth sports programs and activities. The amount of total Measure Q funding requested for the Fiscal Year 2026-2027 is $127,818.39
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve Measure Q Youth Community Promotional Fund allocations totaling $127,818.39 for the seven youth sports organizations identified in this report for Fiscal Year 2026-2027.
