COMMUNITY PROMOTIONAL FUND APPLICATION FROM THE BARSTOW COLLEGE
FOUNDATION FOR THEIR FALL FUNDRAISER
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The Barstow College Foundation has requested that the City waive fees associated with its upcoming Fall Fundraiser. The event is intended to raise awareness and resources for scholarships, educational opportunities, and other forms of support for students attending Barstow Community College.
The event will also commemorate the 100th anniversary of Route 66 and recognize the historic highway’s connection to Barstow’s history, tourism, and economic development.
DISCUSSION:
The Fall Fundraiser will bring together community members, local businesses, students, and supporters to strengthen partnerships and encourage investment in higher education. Funds and community support generated through the event will help students overcome financial barriers, achieve their educational goals, and prepare for successful careers.
The Route 66 centennial celebration will also provide an opportunity to recognize Barstow’s unique history and promote local tourism and economic activity.
The requested fee waivers include:
Use of the Harvey House;
Police Department staffing;
Temporary Use Permit application fee; and
Inspection fees.
The requested fee waivers represent an in-kind contribution from the City totaling $2,144.86.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The requested fee waivers represent an in-kind contribution totaling $2,144.86. For Fiscal Year 2026– 2027, this amount will be charged to Measure Q Account No. 1025008-5755.
