RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING INTERMITTENT STREET CLOSURES ALONG RIMROCK ROAD, BETWEEN H STREET AND LOVATO AVENUE, AS PART OF THE FY 25-26 STREET
REHABILITATION PROJECT
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
As part of the FY 25-26 Street Rehabilitation Project, various locations throughout the project will require street closures so that construction crews can safely complete public improvement repairs. In order to provide the least disturbance to the public and promote worker safety while placing the final layer of asphalt along Rimrock Road, staff is requesting adoption of Resolution No. XXXX-2026 which authorizes the intermittent closure on Rimrock Road between H Street and Lovato Avenue from 7:00 a.m. on Monday, September 28, 2026, through the end of day on Friday, October 16, 2026. Detour routes will be adequately marked to provide alternate routes for the public’s use during the requested closures.
DISCUSSION:
City Staff is respectfully requesting the City Council’s consideration and approval of Resolution No.
XXXX-2026 (Attachment A) to authorize intermittent street closures on Rimrock Rd, between H Street and Lovato Avenue starting at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, September 28, 2026, through the end of day on Friday, October 16, 2026, to complete portions of reconstruction as part of the FY 25-26 Street Rehabilitation Project (Project). During this time, traffic will be detoured providing alternate routes to the community so that residents and businesses can continue to be accessed. City staff has been working closely with the Project’s contractor, Sully-Miller, to coordinate and provide advance notification to residents and business owners of the upcoming public improvement construction via notification letters, phone calls, email, and the City's social media platforms. The proposed intermittent closures are necessary to allow the contractor to safely and efficiently complete critical phases of work for the planned street rehabilitation. A full closure will help minimize impacts to local businesses and residents, decrease construction duration times, and enhance the public’s safety.
Sully-Miller is requesting approval of traffic control devices for intermittent hard closures at the following intersections beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, September 28, 2026, through the end of day on Friday, October 16, 2026:
• Rimrock Road and all intersections between H Street and Lovato Ave.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No fiscal impact will result from the street closure.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Staff recommends the City Council take the following action:
1. Adopt Resolution No. XXXX-2026, approving intermittent street closures on Rimrock Road between H Street and Lovato Avenue beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, September 28, 2026, Joint Meeting Council/BFPD
