RESOLUTION NO. -2026
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BARSTOW, CALIFORNIA,
TEMPORARILY CLOSING CERTAIN STREETS WITHIN THE CITY OF BARSTOW IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 21101(e) OF THE CALIFORNIA VEHICLE CODE FOR
STREET REHABILITATION PURPOSES
WHEREAS, Section 21101(e) of the California Vehicle Code (CVC) authorizes the City Council to adopt regulations temporarily closing a portion of any street for the construction and/or maintenance of such streets, when in the opinion of the local authority having jurisdiction, such closure is necessary for the safety and protection of persons who are to use that portion of street during the temporary closure, and WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Barstow does hereby find that the temporary closure of certain streets within the City of Barstow for road rehabilitation is in the interest of the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BARSTOW DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
1. The City Council of the City of Barstow hereby authorizes intermittent closures of the following streets within the City of Barstow beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, September 28, 2026, through the end of day on Friday, October 16, 2026, as noted on below listed intersections.
• Intermittent road closure, with detoured routes, at the intersections of Rimrock Road and D, E, F, G & H Streets.
• Intermittent road closure, with detoured routes, at the intersection of Rimrock Road and Cochise Road
• Intermittent road closure, with detoured routes, at the intersection of Rimrock Road and Highland Avenue.
• Intermittent road closure, with detoured routes, at the intersection of Rimrock Road and Dolomite Streets.
2. The City Council does hereby condition such intermittent road closure upon placement of adequate traffic control device(s), at the aforementioned locations and other locations, as necessary to adequately advise drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians of the street closures and available detour routes, as defined in the California Manual Uniform Traffic Control Devices (CAMUTCD) or Work Area Traffic Control Handbook (WATCHBOOK) Approved Traffic Control Plans and Detour Maps, to ensure public safety.
3. The City Council does hereby condition such intermittent closure upon the establishment of adequate detours as per the requirements of the California Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (CAMUTCD) and the Work Area Traffic Control Handbook (WATCHBOOK).
4. The City Council does hereby authorize the reopening of such streets following completion of the street rehabilitation work by the City’s awarded contractor, but in no case later than 5:30 p.m. on Friday, October 16th, 2026.
