Dear Council Members,
I am alarmed about safety of the setback of the residential building development on Oak & Bellflower (referred to in item 11‐A), and future plans or revisions to the retail component.
The setback is pretty much non existent, butting right up to the sidewalk, and it appears that balconies have been added that are dangerously close to & overhang the sidewalk, creating a hazard for pedestrians below. It is also unsightly. This must be rectified.
My 84 year old mother lives in Bellflower Friendship Manor on Oak Street. I drive by the construction often, and have been shocked to see the progression. As a resident living & traveling & parking on this route, it does not feel safe.
Likewise, any plans and requested modifications of the retail component, in Item 11‐A, must be carefully reviewed for safety, to prevent this situation from worsening. The item states that the proposed development will include a two story retail and dining on the corner of Oak & Bellflower, (which as residents we were not aware of), making the concern even greater. What provisions for parking are also being made for this? It’s very limited even now.
A public meeting about this development is ‘most definitely in order.
Thank you,
Lisa Marquise &
